"No arrow flies straight. But if you let it follow its own path, even a crooked arrow will find its way."
Wow, that certainly sums up kids well and bodes for letting them find their own way rather than the way we think they should take.
This is a quote from the movie Crooked Arrows that has just opened. Lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in the US. And the oldest sport in the country. A sport given to us by the Native Americans. While this movie is about lacrosse, it isn't just about lacrosse. It is so much more. (The lacrosse players are real lacrosse player who they taught to act not actors pretending to play lacrosse.)
This movie has everything we have been talking about in the first quarter: race, culture, social class, poverty, language, education, and even a little creative insubordination. It's all rolled into one. I saw this movie differently after all our course work. My lens has changed.
Take it in and let me know what you think.
