911 is anyone there?

There are so many things that we take for granted.  Yes, this class is bringing many things to the forefront and I am grateful for that.  Today there was the quiet reminder that young children have to work to remember how to write their names, know their telephone numbers, and their addresses.  These things are critical to know in the face of an emergency.

Another important piece of information, is the need to teach young children the difference between an emergency and a non-emergency.  It is not only important to understand the difference but also important to recognize the different views of an emergency between adult and child.

Thank you for including the component of what happens when you make a false report.  While calling someone as a prank to ask them "if their refrigerator is running", is fairly harmless.  A crank phone call to 911 has repercussions.

Thank you for letting us be silly while reminding us of some important things.  We got more out of it than we let on.
