I have been driving around with one head light out for a while. Then last night two other messages appeared on the car that tells me when it is sick. So I called the very nice car doctor this morning and made an appointment to have my wheels checked out.
Here is your math problem....especially for those of you with students who struggled with the concept of times as many.
"Just the labor on the headlight is going to run around $400 because it is fairly complicated just getting to it. But if it is the power source to the head lamp, that could cost as much as 3 times the labor cost!!!! Ouch.
So now that my pocket is being pinched (my literacy connection) and your students have solved the math problem. Let them know that not only have they solved a real world math problem but also they have solved one of those mysteries of life - Why do so many people drive around with one headlight out?
