It's The Little Things That Warm My Heart

Saturday = Junior Football Day

Weather = Football weather for the first time all season.  Lots of layers, blankets, gloves (forgot ear muffs).  Prepare for a chilling to the bone.  No pun intended as Halloween approaches.

It was a day of cold crisp weather with a pigskin flying through the air.  Some kids won.  Some kids lost.  But all in all it was better than doing all that school work (no offense to the faculty).

As I sat in the stands, freezing, two young boys came running up with huge smiles on their faces to say hello.  They warmed me up like a cup of hot cocoa.  They were two of the kids from my main placement!  We haven't seen each other for three weeks.  Yet even under all the layers and blankets they knew it was me and were happy to see me.  As I was to see them.

The lesson?  While we may have only been in our main placements for a month, we have made an impact.  It was difficult for us to leave our students.  We knew we would miss them.  But they miss us too!

We have made a difference and we will continue to make a difference.

  1. That warmed my heart too! I was able to visit my students last week and it was so neat to realize that they do miss us too. As teachers we will have the power to make a difference, and it's awesome to think about how we already have made made such a big impact on these kids.

  2. I certainly feel a connection with the kids at my main placement, but am sadly missing that at my middle school placement. I think that spending that first few weeks together creating a classroom community really makes a difference in how well you get to know your kids and vice versa. It goes to show how important that September experience is.
