Thinking, Teaching, Thinking, Teaching

I am starting to feel a little like Winnie the Pooh.  Sitting here on my log, tapping my forehead, and saying think think think.   I had no idea we would be doing so much thinking and reflecting.  While scary at first, I am becoming comfortable with it.  I may not be used to putting my thoughts into written words but I am finding strength and courage in doing just that.  It is helpful to think about where we have come from...what has brought us to this place.  There are 28 of us thrown together for a year-and a half and we are all different.  We have grown up in different places, in different types of families, with different goals and dreams.  But we now all share the same goal.  To become teachers.  Not just teachers, but really good teachers.  Teachers who care, teachers who respect, teachers who challenge, teachers who dream.  Yes, I have made an assumption that you all have the same dream.  I hope you do and I look forward to working with you and stepping up to the many challenges we will all face together.  The best part of that is to remember that we are just like every class we will have: 30 or so kids placed in a group, learning and living together for a year.  And at the end of that year smarter and better people.  I am a strong believer in having fun too, so let's enjoy.
