Where I am as a blogger....

I did it!  I did it!  I actually responded to two blogs of total strangers!!!  I admit that I really was contemplating skipping this.  But then it happened.  I was moved enough by two blogs that I am following that I finally spoke up and said something.  Now that I have crossed that hurdle it probably won't be so hard the next time....Imagine that.

Where I am as a blogger is the question I have been charged with answering....

As the quarter started, I was slow on the blogging front.  Why?  Because "I didn't have anything to say."  Now before you say, "but you always have something to say...."  Let me qualify my statement, "I didn't feel like I had anything important enough to say to write it down and put it on the internet."  (I am still reluctant with that part.)

So for you the reader, know that when I do blog, it is because I have found something that is important enough to me to get it out there.  As the quarter moved on, I began to have experiences in my placement that  I did want to share with you.  Not only where these things important to me, I thought they would be important to you the reader as well.  So I hope you have enjoyed some of these everyday occurrences.

I have noticed that my later posts received more comments.  I try to entice the reader in with an interesting headline (must be left over from my advertising days).  I also try to hold the reader by visually making the post easy to read.  I realize the importance of adding space to the post when I look at blogs in my reader and don't read them.  Why?  One big paragraph.  My brain says nope!  So I try to draw you in with words and a look.  But mostly I try to draw you in with an interesting topic.

It seems that two of my most compelling posts were the ones about Labels and comparing Kindergarten to Middle School.  Well, I am glad there were conversations around those as I enjoyed writing them both and am passionate about both their messages.  As I think about it, it intrigues me that one is very serious and one was comical but very true.  Maybe I was just trying to show you two sides of me.

I hope that my elementary students provide me with as much juicy material as the middle school students did.

How did I contribute to others?  Well, in the same way that I write on my blog when something moves me, I comment on others for the same reason.  Sometimes someone makes me think more deeply about something and sometimes I want to join in the conversation.  Either way, I try not to talk just to talk but rather to have a purpose.  I hope I did to those I answered.

I hope you have liked my blogs.  This blogger is going on vacation.....

  1. And this is *exactly* where I hoped you would be at this point! (not that you're tame-able :). Yes, thinking during the day about things that we want others to think about with us. Yes, writing for a purpose. Yes, supporting and thinking with others.

I'd love to see the links to the posts where you commented.

Enjoy your vacation. I for one will miss reading your updates for a few weeks.

My other comment isn't showing any more. It had been here: http://bit.ly/WCgzNP I thanked Santa for seeing all we really do as teachers and told him that I believed in him too. ;)
